Showcase groups of images in your next WebHelp project by adding an image slider, courtesy of the free Nivo Slider jQuery plugin.
Perhaps the slider could be used on a home page, with links to different sections or topics, or even to represent a number of steps using a series of images? Nivo Slider can be set up to display captions, thumbnails, and with a little CSS know-how any aspect can be customised. There are also plenty of other settings to play with such as slide transitions.
The slider is a no-no for printed documentation, but if it’s used carefully in your projects it adds a neat touch of interaction with your readers and breaks up the static text on the page. It might even help your documentation to stand out from the crowd!
Installation is straightforward and it’s all explained on the Nivo Slider website, with details of all options, settings, and themes. However, to make things even easier, download a working demo that already has Nivo Slider baked into the RoboHelp project. Grab yourself a copy to play with and maybe put it to use.
